Next Caller is expected to air six episodes with a possible midseason premiere.
Cook's Next Caller joins previously-picked up series Save Me, which stars Anne Heche.
Heche plays a woman who experiences a spiritual and physical awakening which has her channelling God.
NBC recently renewed three of its sitcoms - Parks and Recreation, Up All Night and Whitney.
