The show was recently renewed for a fourth and final season by NBC, after dealing with slumping ratings during its Thursday night timeslot.
It has since been moved to a Friday timeslot for NBC's 2012-2013 fall schedule, but NBC entertainment president Bob Greenblatt has suggested that writer Dan Harmon may not be making the move with it.
The NBC boss told The Wrap that he is unsure of Harmon's future as head of the show, and that he expects he will probably remain creatively involved as a consultant.
But as to a definite idea of Harmon's participation next season, he stated: "I haven't been part of those conversations."
Rumours sparked earlier in the month about Harmon's continued involvement, after a highly public feud with cast member Chevy Chase.
Harmon recently spoke out via Twitter neither confirming nor denying his departure, but did assure fans that if he does leave it wouldn't be because of the feud with Chase.
