Jimmy Kimmel Live received its best ratings in six months on Thursday (May 10), and in the process overtook Tonight with Jay Leno for the first time ever.
Last Thursday's episode beat Jay Leno in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic by 906,000 to 869,000.
Kimmel's lead-in of Nightline last Thursday most likely helped towards the upturn in numbers, as the show brought in the highest ratings in both demos and viewers.
However, Tonight still won the overall late night chatshow ratings for the week, followed by Late Show with David Letterman and then Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Jimmy Kimmel Live's season-to-date ratings are up 3% from last week, which is the only late night chatshow to experience an audience rise this year.
The show is also on its way to being Kimmel's highest rated season in five years.
Jimmy Kimmel will bring his show to New York for the first time later this year. Jimmy Kimmel Live will broadcast five original shows from October 29 to November 2.
