Cougar Town has reportedly hired Gary Unmarried's Ric Swartzlander as its new showrunner.

The Samantha Who? and Sports Night mastermind will replace co-creators Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel when the Courteney Cox sitcom moves from ABC to TBS.

Lawrence is stepping down from Cougar Town as part of his development deal with Warner Bros, but will still be involved with the show and keep his executive producer title.

"Neither Kev nor I currently have shows, so we will both work on CT," he wrote on Twitter last week. "My wife [Christa Miller] is on the show - you think she'll let me disappear? Please. Not like SCRUBS 9 (when had other show to run). Kev and I are in."

Lawrence also said that he would make sure Cougar Town continues with a "great guy in place".

Cougar Town's season three finale will air tomorrow (May 29) at 8.30/7.30c on ABC.

The first of 15 new episodes will screen on TBS in early 2013.
