Anne Holt's Hanne Wilhelmsen book series is to be adapted for television.

The franchise - consisting of eight novels so far - follows the investigations of Wilhelmsen, a lesbian police officer.

Graham King TV will produce the adaptation, which has not yet been shopped to networks, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Holt is among Norway's most popular crime writers, having sold around 6 million copies of her books.

The novelist will serve as an executive producer on the project, while Anne Thomopoulos (Rome, Camelot) will also produce.

Graham King TV is currently developing a number of original series, including Port Royal at FX and Dreamland at Lifetime.

CSI star William Petersen's new drama Hurt People - picked up by Cinemax - is also in the works at the production company.
