'Heroes' heroic in the ratings

Heroes was the most-watched show in America on Monday night in the adults 18-49 demographic, Nielsen Media Research data indicates.

So strong was the cult show's performance that it actually handed NBC a narrow victory in the demo for the night, despite a strong showing by long-time ratings powerhouse CSI: Miami over on CBS.

The peacock network led the night out of the gate, with Deal Or No Deal averaging 15.5m viewers and a 12% share among adults 18-49. At 9, Heroes averaged 14.3m viewers and a strong 15% 18-49 share; however, the network plummeted in the rankings at 10pm when Studio 60 averaged 7.7m viewers and an 8% 18-49 share.

CBS had a mostly successful evening. At 8, How I Met Your Mother averaged close to 10m viewers and had a 10% share of the 18-49 audience. The Class at 8:30 followed that with around 8m viewers and an 8% 18-49 share. At 9, Two And A Half Men had around 15m viewers and an 11% 18-49 share, while Old Christine's new adventures dropped from its lead-in to 12m viewers and a 9% 18-49 share. However, the network resurged at 10 with CSI: Miami's 17.5m viewers and 15% 18-49 share.

ABC's performance wasn't particularly impressive, ranking fourth for the night behind Justice (6.2m viewers, 5% 18-49 share) and Prison Break (8.5m viewers, 9% 18-49 share) on Fox. What About Brian put in a particularly weak performance, dropping from last week's numbers to 6m viewers and a 7% 18-49 share at 10pm.
