NBC has refused to air an advert for a new Dixie Chicks documentary because it "disparages" US President Bush, it has been claimed.
The Weinstein Company, which is distributing the documentary - titled Shut Up And Sing - has issued a press release in which it says NBC refused the ad because it contains speech that "disparages President Bush."
The ad includes footage of Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines saying that the band is "ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas," along with more footage of anti-Dixie Chicks "protests" that sprung up after the comments were originally made back in 2003.
NBC has not commented thus far on the claims.
