Grey's Anatomy has racked up another ratings victory over CSI, according to Thursday night numbers from Nielsen Media Research.
Survivor: Cook Islands got CBS off to a strong start at 8 with 15.5m viewers and a 14% share in the adults 18-49 demographic. Ugly Betty on ABC came second with 13.7m viewers and an 11% 18-49 share, while new episodes of My Name Is Earl and The Office did well for NBC, averaging around 9.3m viewers and an 11% 18-49 share. Smallville on The CW placed fourth with just over 4m viewers and a 5% share in 18-49, while Fox had an extremely weak start to the night with 'Til Death and Happy Hour posting mediocre numbers; for the hour, they managed 3.8m viewers and a 4% 18-49 share.
At 9, Grey's Anatomy powered ahead with 21m viewers and a 21% share in 18-49. CSI came closer to catching Grey's than it has managed lately but was still a firm second with 20.5m viewers and a 16% 18-49 share. Deal or No Deal on NBC achieved 13.1m viewers and an 11% 18-49 share, but the shock numbers in the hour were for The O.C. on Fox; its season premiere badly stumbled with 3.4m viewers and an extremely worrying 3% share in 18-49. Those numbers are far, far away from its 2005-06 season averages of close to 6m total viewers and a 7% share in 18-49.
At 10, ER took its usual lead spot with nearly 14m viewers and a 15% share in 18-49. Shark on CBS came second with 13.2m viewers and a 10% share in 18-49, while ABC's Six Degrees placed third with 7.6m viewers and a 9% 18-49 share.
