Gamble quit her role as Supernatural showrunner earlier this year and will be replaced by Jeremy Carver for the show's eighth season.
Her new project is a medical drama, executive produced by Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern, Arrow), according to Deadline.
The potential series follows Dr Steven Saylor, a talented neurosurgeon who suffers a serious brain injury and must retrain as a medical intern.
The untitled project, produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros TV, has Melissa Kellner Berman (Political Animals) on board as co-executive producer.
A remake of UK comedy Spy, sitcom Dumb F**k and new medical drama Burns & Cooley are among the other pilots currently in development at ABC.
