The Kick-Ass actor will star as Evan in the CBS comedy, which will premiere in the US in early 2013.
"I start [shooting] that at the end of September," Mintz-Plasse confirmed to Vulture. "So I'll be flying back and forth between Kick-Ass 2 and the show."
Friend Me will follow Evan as he moves to Los Angeles and begins working at Groupon with his best friend Rob - played by Red State actor Nicholas Braun.
"I play a guy who moves from Indiana... and he's really nervous about it," said Mintz-Plasse. "So he stays inside and plays video games on his computer all day. And Nicholas Braun plays a guy who wants to go out and party, so we're kind of opposites-attract friends."
The series, written by Raising Hope producer Alan Kirschenbaum and Ajay Sahgal, represents Mintz-Plasse's first major TV role.
