Oscar nominee Duncan died suddenly in hospital on Monday (September 3) at the age of 54. He had suffered a heart attack in July of this year.
Mercedes Masohn, who played Isabel Zambada opposite Duncan's Leo Knox on Fox's Bones spinoff, praised her co-star's "commanding" presence and gentle nature in a statement to TVLine.
"As all of his fans know, Michael had a smile that would light up the screen," she recalled. "His presence was commanding due to his large stature and even larger biceps (he'd want me to say that; I know he's flexing proudly somewhere).
"I'm sad we lost a big teddy bear who cared so greatly for animals of all sizes… and he loved them so sweetly. I feel honoured to have worked with him. My thoughts go out to his family and friends and all those who will miss him. RIP Michael Clark Duncan."
Duncan's Green Mile co-star Tom Hanks is among others who have also paid tribute to the late actor.
