Whitney follows the title star (Whitney Cummings) and her live-in boyfriend Alex, an internet entrepreneur (Chris D'Elia).

Bell is set to play RJ, a friend of Alex, reports TVLine.
The NBC show is based on the life of comedian Cummings, who also created the series.
RJ is described by Cummings as a "very sexy, sort of new guy character friend" for Alex and a possible love interest for Lily (Zoe Lister Jones).
Bell, who previously appeared on VH1's Single Ladies, will make his series debut in season two, which premieres on October 9 at 8pm ET on NBC.
