'Arrested Development' Alia Shawkat: 'Show is still weird'

Alia Shawkat has hinted that Arrested Development's new season is weirder than ever.

Shawkat reprises her role as Maeby Funke in the fourth season, which she revealed will feature the continuation of Maeby's awkward romance with cousin George Michael (Michael Cera).

"Me and Mike Cera were like, you know, 15, 16 when we were shooting it, so a lot of my 16-year-old insecurities are coming back, but I've lived a whole life, like I know how to be comfortable, so I'm trying to figure that out," she told MTV News.

She then joked: "It's really cool, like we've been shooting for three weeks and we're still like, 'This is weird, right? This is weird'."

Shawkat also revealed that Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz recently ordered the cast not to release spoilers for the new episodes.

"I feel like such a douchebag, but I've been like, they sent emails that are like, 'Please do not release any content'. Jason Bateman messed up a couple of times, so I'm not going to be that girl," she teased.
