Jimmy Kimmel: 'My show won't change for 11.35 timeslot'

By
Jimmy Kimmel has promised that he won't tame his late-night series when it moves to 11.35 early next year.

ABC has announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live will begin competing directly with The Tonight Show and The Late Show with David Letterman in January 2013, a decade after the series debuted in the midnight timeslot.

Discussing the move with Parade, Kimmel said that he wants to maintain the comedic style that made his late-night series a success.

"I was very happy to be asked to move to 11.35. It's kind of like getting an engagement ring after living with someone for 10 years - I feel like a blushing bride," he joked.

Kimmel added: "I don't think there will be any big changes. Mainly, I'm hoping they stick with the existing host."

The presenter previously brushed off fears of challenging Tonight Show host Jay Leno in the ratings, quipping at a recent panel: "F**k him!"

Jimmy Kimmel Live currently airs weeknights at 12/11c on ABC.
