Applegate, the star of NBC's Up All Night, is set to host on October 13 with Passion Pit joining her as the musical guest, while Mars will act as both a host and a musical guest on October 20.

Mars is gearing up to release his sophomore album titled Unorthodox Jukebox on December 10 in the UK and December 11 in the US.
SNL kicked off its 38th season on September 15 with Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who was today announced as the host for the Oscars in 2013.

Craig's third James Bond film Skyfall will arrive in UK cinemas on October 26, and in the US on November 9.
