Court TV yanked by satellite TV provider
Published Tuesday, Jan 2 2007, 09:46 GMT | By James Welsh
Court TV has been pulled off digital satellite TV provider Dish Network's channel lineup due to an ongoing carriage dispute.
Dish has approximately 13m subscribers and planned to downgrade the Time Warner-owned Court to a lower channel tier, making it available to only 10m subscribers. Because that would have an impact on Court's revenues, the two companies started a battle over retransmission fees and have been unable to resolve their differences.
A message on Court TV's website tells Dish subscribers "don't stand for this injustice" and advises them to call the operator and request it be re-added to the channel lineup.
In a statement, Dish senior VP of programming Eric Sahl responded: "We are working hard to negotiate a fair contract with Turner Networks and CourtTV."
