NBC to launch new horror channel
Published Friday, Jan 12 2007, 10:46 GMT | By James Welsh
NBC Universal will launch a new horror-themed digital channel in March, Variety has reported.
The channel, named "Chiller", will launch on March 1. It will initially only be seen on digital satellite provider DirecTV's lineup; it is understood, however, that NBC is seeking carriage on digital cable lineups.
Among the shows expected to air on the channel are Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Psycho, with NBC expected to draw deeply from its library of MCA films. However, NBC Universal's cable president Jeff Gaspin told Variety that NBC has "licensed content from all the major players."
