PBS leads children's Emmy nominations

PBS and Discovery Kids have topped the table of nominations for Children's Programming Emmy Awards, securing 18 and 15 nominations respectively.

One of the key categories - outstanding direction in a children's series - pits established PBS show Sesame Street against relative newcomer Nick Jr.'s LazyTown, which won the award for best international programme in last year's Children's BAFTAs. It's a Big, Big World, another relatively new PBS show, is also in the category.

"LazyTown has been a phenomenal success for Nick Jr," said Howard Litton, SVP, general manager and director of channels at Nickelodeon UK. "We are delighted that this incredible show is up for yet another award and would like to congratulate the talented production team."
