The Great British Bake Off debuted in summer 2010 and has run for three series on BBC Two. It features amateur bakers competing in a series of challenges, and is judged by Cordon Bleu-trained food writer Mary Berry and professional baker Paul Hollywood.

A junior spin-off, in addition to a one-off charity episode for Sport Relief, have also aired.

The most recent series concluded on Tuesday evening (October 16), when Manchester University law graduate John Whaite was crowned as winner ahead of James Morton and Brendan Lynch.

The show has been a ratings hit for the channel - attracting 7.2 million viewers for the final - with speculation that it may be promoted from BBC Two to BBC One in the future.

It has been reported that Whaite could earn up to £500,000 ($806,450) from book deals and other endorsements.

Bake Off will debut on CBS during 2013.
