Bruno Mars on hosting Saturday Night Live: 'I've got nothing to lose'

By
Bruno Mars has said that he is very excited to host Saturday Night Live this weekend.

The 'Locked Out of Heaven' singer is helming the NBC late-night series for the very first time and will also perform tracks from his new album Unorthodox Jukebox.

Mars has now admitted to MTV News that the offer to host SNL came as a total shock.

"It was weird, because I'm not an actor or a comedian, and they asked me to do it. It was surreal," he commented.

The star added: "It was one of those moments where it's like, 'Oh man, that would be so fun ... yeah, let's do it!' and then you hang up and you're like 'Wait a minute...'

"But, I'm excited, man! I've got nothing to lose! I'm the 'Grenade' guy forever."

Mars also hinted that he is hoping one of Saturday Night Live's most popular guest hosts makes a surprise cameo.

"I always think of Alec Baldwin, and the 'Schweddy Balls' skit... that's one of the all-time best," he said. "Alec Baldwin always kills it. I hope he can make a little cameo and help me out... we'll do 'Schweddy Balls II'."

Mars and SNL castmember Fred Armisen released a series of promos for this Saturday's show earlier in the week.

Saturday Night Live airs at 11.30/10.30c on NBC.
