Like the original, the remake - produced by Denis Leary - will focus on three hapless paramedics, with the action moved from Leeds to Chicago.

Mustafa - best known for his memorable role in a series of Old Spice commercials - will play Danny, the new partner of cop Theresa (Jessica McNamee), TVLine reports.

The 38-year-old's past television work includes guest roles on NBC's Chuck and ABC's short-lived Charlie's Angels remake.

Modern Family's Kevin Daniels and Pan Am actor Michael Mosley will also star in the US Sirens pilot, which producer Leary has claimed will be "very different" from the UK original.
