The Scrubs star has sold his single-camera comedy idea to the alphabet network, after having offers from several other companies, reports Deadline.
Braff will write and direct the programme for 20th Century TV and ABC, where Scrubs came to an end in 2010.
Garage Bar will be set in workplace, and is said to contain the mood and humour of his 2004 movie Garden State.
The show will follow a group of friends who discover the difficult nature of fame when one of them becomes a popstar.
It is not currently known whether Braff will star in the project, or if he will remain behind the camera.
Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence recently stated that a Broadway musical based on the medical comedy is in development.
