The X-Men and Ugly Betty actress will star as former secret service operative Michelle Maxwell in King and Maxwell, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Romijn's character works on politically sensitive cases in Washington, and is described as a formidable investigator who is trying to find redemption after being forced out of the intelligence service.
She will appear opposite Jon Tenney (The Closer, Brothers & Sisters), who will star as Sean King.
The hour-long pilot from CBS Television Studios and Shane Brennan Productions is based on the characters from David Baldacci's books, and the author is on board as a consultant.
King and Maxwell's executive producers are NCIS: Los Angeles's Shane Brennan, Grant Anderson (Third Watch) and Karen Spiegel, who worked on an adaptation of Baldacci's Absolute Power.
