Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes is developing a new science fiction drama.

MILA 2.0 is based on the book by Debra Driza, which will be published in March 2013.

The novel focuses on an android named MILA - or Mobile Intel Life-like Android - who develops human emotions, as well as the plight of her scientist 'mother'.

Rhimes will executive produce alongside writer Dave DiGilio, who will adapt Driza's original work, according to Deadline.

In addition to the MILA 2.0 pilot, Rhimes is currently in charge of Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and Private Practice, which was recently cancelled by ABC.

Earlier this year, the writer / producer sold drama pilot Gilded Lilys starring John Barrowman to ABC, but the project was not picked up to series.
