James D'Arcy has joined Chloe Sevigny in A&E drama pilot Those Who Kill.

The project is a remake of the Dutch crime series, which aired on ITV3 in the UK.

The 37-year-old English actor will play the male lead Thomas Schaffer - a forensic profiler and partner to detective Catherine Jensen (Sevigny), according to Deadline.

The Mummy star Brendan Fraser was previously considered for the role of Schaffer, who is described as "intellectual" with a deep understanding of serial killer behaviour.

D'Arcy will next be seen in movie biopic Hitchcock, in which he plays Psycho star Anthony Perkins, and also appears opposite Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in Cloud Atlas.

Glen Morgan (The X-Files, The River) will script the Those Who Kill pilot, with Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team) attached to direct.
