Victoria's Secret has apologised for using a Native American headdress in its annual Fashion Show.

Model Karlie Kloss wore the traditional headdress while strutting the catwalk in lingerie for last week's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show taping in New York.

Native American advocacy groups later complained to the lingerie company, prompting Victoria's Secret to apologise on its official Twitter account.

"We are sorry that the Native American headdress in our fashion show has upset individuals. The outfit will be removed from the broadcast," a Victoria's Secret message read.

Kloss has also issued her own apology on Twitter, in which she stressed that she meant no offence by wearing the headdress.

She wrote: "I am deeply sorry if what I wore during the VS Show offended anyone. I support VS's decision to remove the outfit from the broadcast."

The edited version of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show - featuring performances by Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars - airs Tuesday, December 4 at 10/9c on CBS.
