Wednesday ratings: 'X Factor' rises, 'Whitney' return down

Fox topped Wednesday night's 18-49 demographic ratings, while CBS won the most viewers.

The X Factor climbed 12% from last Wednesday's broadcast for Fox, earning a 2.9 18-49 demo score and 8.09 million viewers at 8-10pm.

CBS's Survivor: Philippines fell 7% from last week to 2.6 (9.98m) at 8pm. Criminal Minds matched last week's 3.0. It was also the most-watched show of the night with 12.13 million at 9pm. CSI rose 4% to 2.4 (10.81m) at 10pm.

ABC's The Middle dropped 7% to 2.5 (8.74m) at 8pm, while The Neighbors continued to tumble 10% to 1.9 (6.74m) at 8.30pm.

Modern Family fell 4%, but was still easily the highest scoring show in the 18-49 demo, with a big 4.6 (11.90m) at 9pm.

Suburgatory tumbled 17% to match its season low score of 2.4 (7.22m) at 9.30pm. Nashville also fell 10% to ties its series low of 1.8 (5.89m) at 10pm.

Supernatural S08E07: 'A Little Slice of Kevin'

NBC's season premiere of Whitney achieved a disappointing 1.4 (4.23m), 13% lower than its first season opener and matching its all-time series low.

Guys With Kids matched its last new episode's series low score of just 1.3 (3.82m) at 8.30pm. Law & Order: SVU also matched its series low, falling 6% to 1.6 (5.70m) at 9pm.

Chicago Fire dropped 27% from its last regular episode - which had The Voice preceding it - to 1.6 (5.72m) at 10pm.

The CW's Arrow fell slightly to 1.2 (3.80m) at 8pm, while Supernatural was even with last week's season high of 1.0 (2.3m) at 9pm.
