Esposito hit out as CBS for being put on a "leave of absence" from Blue Bloods because she is "unable to perform the demands of her role" as she battles Celiac disease.
Wahlberg - who plays Detective Danny Reagan on Blue Blood - was asked about the Esposito controversy this week by The AP.
"She's a friend and I hope she's doing good," Wahlberg replied.
The actor went on to say: "I love working with her, so we'll see what happens."
Wahlberg declined any further comment on the matter.
Esposito addressed her exit from Blue Bloods again on Fox Files in recent days, explaining that the entertainment industry is often not fair to its stars.
"What happened was ugliness. So many things of injustice that happen in this business. It's what you sign up for," Esposito told Fox Files this month.
She had been playing Detective Danny Reagan's partner Detective Jackie Curatola in previous episodes of Blue Bloods.
The series airs on Fridays at 10/9c on CBS. In the UK, Blue Bloods airs on Sky Atlantic.
