The pilot will pick up a decade later with a happily married Cory and Topanga raising their 13-year-old daughter Riley.

Rider Strong - who played Cory's best friend Shawn Hunter in the original sitcom - has said that he has no involvement in the new show, but would be very interested in making some form of an apperance.

"At this point, I have no official involvement," he told TMZ.

"There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years. But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, its own show."

He added: "It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters... And I, for one, can't wait to see it evolve."

Riley will be the central character in the new series, but has yet to be cast. Boy Meets World creator Michael Jacobs is attached as executive producer.

Rider Strong has appeared on a number of US TV shows in recent years, including Castle and Bones.
