'Battlestar' gets extended fourth season
Battlestar Galactica's fourth season will now comprise 22 episodes instead of 13, after the Sci Fi Channel increased its order.

The season will commence with a special feature length episode that will be screened towards the end of this year, and be released on DVD shortly afterwards.

The broadcaster had initially announced that 13 episodes would be made for the upcoming season, due to begin shooting in May, when the show was renewed last month.

"We're thrilled to bring Battlestar back for another season " said Mark Stern, executive VP of programming at Sci Fi, at the time of the initial annoucement. "This series has delivered on every level – from the writing to the acting to the production values."

Battlestar Galactica's third season, currently airing on Sky One in the UK, is due to conclude in the US on March 25th.
