The show's co-creator brushed off claims that a planned adaptation by Fox of the British sitcom could end up netting her and fellow writer James Corden £5 million each.
"Can I just go on record as saying I am not making £5 million?" laughed Jones.
"So to all my family and friends who think they may be getting a really nice Christmas present this year, sorry. [It] isn't gonna happen."
Joking about the constant speculation regarding a US version, she said: "I mean it could happen, but I could win the lottery. I mean it is literally like that at the moment."
Explaining the process with the US networks, she said: "NBC had a script made of it, ABC had a script and it was going to go to a pilot and then they dropped it, and now Fox have commissioned a script and that is all that has happened."
Jones is currently working on a new series of her Sky1 comedy Stella, which returns for its second run in January.
