VH1 Divas will be saluting the music of Donna Summer, Whitney Houston and other dance music stars with special appearances by Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato.
Lambert has now revealed that his own performance will honour his dance music idol Madonna, but remained coy on which of her classic hits he will be covering.
"I'm really excited about performing a Madonna song. I've been a proud Madonna fan for quite some time and have always really looked up to her as a show person, someone who knew how to put on a number," the 'For Your Entertainment' singer told VH1.
Lambert added: "[Madonna] put costumes and theme and choreography and her videos have been really innovative and I really look up to her so it's going to be a real thrill to perform one of her songs but I'm not going to tell you which one."
Pitbull, Kelly Clarkson, Ciara and Kelly Rowland are on the bill for the annual television special.
VH1 Divas originated in 1998 with a special concert uniting Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Aretha Franklin, Shania Twain and Mariah Carey.
This year's instalment airs live from the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (December 16) at 9/8c on VH1.
