Guys with Kids jumped 21% to a new timeslot high of 1.7 (4.35m) at 8.30pm.

Law & Order: SVU was also up a large 31%, matching its highest rating since November 2011 with 2.1 (7.75m) at 9pm.

Chicago Fire topped the night overall, rising to a new series high score of 2.4 (8.41m) at 10pm.

NBC's rise in the ratings was most likely helped by CBS, ABC and The CW airing all repeats.

On Fox, Mobbed's double-bill return was down a huge 67% and 63% to 1.0 (3.18m) and 1.1 (2.75m) from its last original in February 2012, but it had American Idol as a lead-in.

ABC's clip show of Nashville attracted 1.1 (3.94m) at 10pm.
