Gunshots fired in CNN Centre

Multiple shots were fired inside the CNN Centre complex in Atlanta, Georgia, on Tuesday afternoon.

CNN's domestic network, which remained on the air, reported shortly before 2pm ET (19:00 BST) that two people were critically injured in the incident. The network also reported that a suspect was taken into custody. Pictures that went out on CNN's air showed police pointing firearms at a man lying on the floor.

It is understood that the newsroom for CNN's website was evacuated during the incident. CNN quoted employees who witnessed the incident as saying that the shooting was the result of an argument that took place near the Omni Hotel, which is part of CNN Centre.
