TNT has picked up new crime drama King and Maxwell to series.

However, the network will not be ordering additional episodes of Trooper - starring Mira Sorvino - beyond the pilot, Deadline reports.

King and Maxwell - based on the novels by author David Baldacci - has been picked up for a ten-episode first season, to launch in summer 2013.

The series stars X-Men's Rebecca Romijn as Michelle Maxwell and The Closer's Jon Tenney as Sean King - a pair of former Secret Service agents who now operate as private investigators.

Sons of Anarchy actor Ryan Hurst also appears in the pilot episode as an autistic savant - and suspected serial killer - who helps King to crack a crucial part of his case.

The axed Trooper - which was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer - starred Oscar winner Sorvino as a state trooper who must balance her work life with her commitments as a single mother to three children.

Once Upon a Time star Eion Bailey was also attached to the project, having been cast in November as the partner of Sorvino's character.

TNT is yet to make a final decision on the fate of its two other pilots - Michael Bay's dystopian thriller The Last Ship and spy drama Legends starring Sean Bean.
