CBS is to launch a branded online channel, enabling web users to watch shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for free.

The US TV network has signed 10 distribution partners for the channel: AOL, MSN, Comcast Veoh, Brightcove, Joost, CNET Networks, Sling Media, Netvibes and social networking site Bebo.

The channel will be ad-funded, with brands paying CBS and the partners for space on the service, currently named the CBS Interactive Audience Network.

All content on the channel will have already aired on TV in the US. The CBS IAN will only be accessible in the States, with the exception of clips and full-length sports programming,

CBS, along with other broadcasters including MTV and NBC, are believed to be in talks with MySpace owner NewsCorp over using the social networking platform as another potential distributor.
