'Diff'rent Strokes' star Todd Bridges pays tribute to Conrad Bain

Diff'rent Strokes star Todd Bridges has paid tribute to Conrad Bain, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 89.

Bridges appeared as Willis, the adopted son of Bain's character Mr Drummond, in the legendary NBC comedy.

He has now told The Hollywood Reporter that discovering Bain had passed away led to "one of the most heart-wrenching days" he had experienced.

"That Conrad's not going to be around anymore to talk to," he said. "Whenever I needed advice, I'd call Conrad."

Bridges described Bain as a "really good man", saying: "He really was like Mr Drummond. Just an all-round nice guy. he treated me better than my own father treated me.

"When I had my son, I took him to Conrad's house and he loved him, played chess with him, called him his grandson. He just really knew how to take care of people."

Bridges added that he had "cried all day", saying: "I can't even cry anymore. I'll truly miss that man."
