'Saved by the Bell' fans deserve reunion episodes, says Dennis Haskins

By
Saved by the Bell star Dennis Haskins has voiced his support for a reunion special.

The 62-year-old actor played Principal Belding on the teen sitcom between 1989 and 1993 and also appeared in spinoff The New Class.

"I have always supported a reunion of any kind including all of us," Haskins told TMZ. "Honestly, the fans still love us and our show so much - they deserve it!"

Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris) caused controversy last year when he appeared to suggest that Saved by the Bell was "not a great show" and that its writing was "hokey".

The star later claimed that his comments were taken out of context.

"I wasn't saying it was a bad show, just that the writing reflected [the era it was produced]," he said. "Everything I've ever done after the show has pointed to me having nothing but respect for it."

Gosselaar currently stars in TNT series Franklin & Bash, while Haskins played a guest role in the last season of Mad Men.

Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly) now plays a regular role on USA's White Collar and Mario Lopez (AC Slater) works as a television host, most recently fronting season two of the US X Factor opposite Khloe Kardashian.

Dustin Diamond (Screech) is still acting and in 2006 directed and released his own sex tape Screeched - Saved by the Smell.
