'Law & Order', spinoff facing axe

NBC is still "undecided" on the fate of Law & Order and spinoff series Criminal Intent with less than a month until its Upfronts presentation.
The long-running crime drama - the current season is its seventeenth - had been expected to end this year but producer Dick Wolf is now hopeful of a reprieve. Both it and Criminal Intent, now in its sixth season, have high production costs and do not command the sort of ratings achieved by Special Victims Unit, another spinoff in the franchise that has already earned a pickup for next season.
"Talks have been taking place and continue to take place about the future of [both shows]," Wolf told the Hollywood Reporter. "I think the discussions have reached a productive stage, and it's my finest hope that we will find a way to have both shows picked up."
