Amy Poehler 'didn't feel bad about James Cameron Golden Globes joke'

By
Amy Poehler has revealed that she and Tina Fey didn't feel bad about spoofing celebrities at the Golden Globes earlier this month.

The pair earned wide praise for their humorous monologue at the January 13 ceremony with zingers about Taylor Swift, Ricky Gervais and a jab at James Cameron.

"[I] hadn't really been following the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty, but when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron," Poehler quipped.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Poehler insisted that both she and Fey were pleased with their performance at the Golden Globes.

"There was nothing in that moment that we walked away from feeling bad about. There was never a moment that we walked away going, 'Was that too [far]?'" she recalled.

The actress continued: "You know, we vetted our own jokes with each other. Tina and I have had a lot of experience doing those kind of jokes, so we know when things feel too 'something'. That room was a special kind of room, so we had to think about how to play to that room.

"So, we didn't regret anything that we had said or felt like we were coming in a weird way. And if it's funny, you can get away with a lot, hopefully."

Poehler was also quizzed on if she hesitated at all to tell the joke about Avatar director Cameron given its pointed punchline.

"Oh, no," she replied, adding: "It's a great joke!"

Fey recently hinted that she and Poehler might be willing to hosting the Golden Globe Awards again next year.

Poehler's Parks and Recreation airs on Thursdays at 8.30pm ET.
