50 Cent is working on a new animated series based on his childhood.

The cartoon - which would follow a mischievous young boy and his run-ins with his eccentric family - is close to being picked up to pilot by Fox, Deadline reports.

Rap star 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - previously starred in the autobiographical 2005 film Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

He has also appeared in the movies Righteous Kill and Dead Man Running and will next be seen opposite Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in prison drama The Tomb.

Earlier this month, 50 Cent unveiled the music video for his new single 'Major Distribution' which features Snoop Dogg and Young Jeezy.

The pilot for his new animated series will be written by Carl Jones (Black Dynamite: The Animated Series) and exec produced by Jackson himself.
