Tim Allen in Last Man Standing

Now-31-year-old Thomas played Randy Taylor - son of Tim Taylor (Allen) - on Home Improvement between 1991 and 1998.

His Last Man Standing guest stint will see him play the manager of a swanky restaurant who considers giving Kristin (Amanda Fuller) a job, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Thomas - also known for providing the voice of young Simba in 1994's The Lion King - last appeared on US television in a 2005 episode of Veronica Mars.

His appearance on Last Man Standing will mark the show's second Home Improvement reunion - former co-star Richard Karn was also previously reunited with Allen on the series.
