'Veronica Mars' likely for fourth season
Published Wednesday, May 9 2007, 10:36 BST | By Neil Wilkes

The news comes after much speculation that the current, third season would be the last. Creator Rob Thomas filmed two short "pilots" for a potential fourth season: one, as a continuation of the current season, that would focus on Veronica's second year in college, and another that fast-forwards four years to follow Veronica as an FBI agent.
"We're very much on the bubble," Thomas told Variety. "I will say that the reports of our demise have been exaggerated. We are very much in the hunt for a shot next year. We pitched [The CW] two different versions of the show... I don't know which version they might order."
The Hollywood Reporter says that CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff was "very impressed" by the promo for the FBI series option and that it was "well-received" at the network in general.
A final decision on the fate of Veronica will be announced at The CW's upfronts presentation next Thursday (May 17).
