The Six Feet Under star appeared in just six episodes of the FX horror drama's second run, but will feature more prominently in the next 13 episodes.

"It's going to start up again in July or August in New Orleans - I'll be part of that and will have a fairly substantial part in it," Conroy told ShockTillYouDrop.

"I'll be in 10 of the episodes of what I think will be a 13-part season. The writers are so good and I can't wait to see where it goes."

However, Conroy would not be pressed on the theme for season three, which is rumoured to involve witchcraft.

"I know there's been a little bit of teasing [about that, but] they're trying to keep it all hush hush so there are surprises," she explained. "I'm interested in seeing what world we'll inhabit."

Jessica Lange, Taissa Farmiga, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe will all return to American Horror Story next season, with Kathy Bates also set to join the cast.
