'Law & Order: SVU's Christopher Meloni to star in TV comedy

Law & Order: SVU star Christopher Meloni is to return to television in a sitcom from Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence.

I Suck at Girls has been adapted by $#*! My Dad Says writer Justin Halpern from his own book.

Meloni will play a hard-working father who holds 'traditional' family values, but is forced to become more involved in his kids' lives when his wife starts attending law school, TVLine reports.

The 51-year-old actor is best known for playing Elliot Stabler in 12 seasons of Law & Order: SVU and has also appeared on HBO series True Blood and Oz.

He will next be seen in Superman movie Man of Steel opposite Henry Cavill and Amy Adams.

Currently at pilot stage, I Suck at Girls is in contention for a series pick-up at Fox.
