The comedian opened up about his career ambitions to The Huffington Post, revealing that he has always wanted to host SNL's 'Weekend Update' segment.

"Dream job. Absolute dream job. Always has been," Jeselnik declared. "I would give away everything that I have to be a Weekend Update anchor, and I don't think it will ever happen."

He went on to say: "It's one of those things that would have been my dream job, but as I was coming up, SNL never called me. They never asked me to submit a packet or come on board, and I think they've gotten away from having stand-ups on the show.

"I think probably Norm Macdonald was the last pure stand-up they had. I've always told agents and managers if that job is ever in play, I want to be in the conversation, even if it's just to have my name brought up in the room. But I would throw everything away to be the Weekend Update anchor."

The current 'Weekend Update' anchor Seth Meyers has held the spot since 2006, first co-hosting with Amy Poehler and then by himself.

Meyers is reportedly in consideration to take over NBC's Late Night if Jimmy Fallon is installed as host of The Tonight Show in the next 18 months. Such a move would likely require Meyers to leave SNL.

Previous anchors of Saturday Night Live's faux-news segment 'Weekend Update' have included Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Dennis Miller and Tina Fey.

Jeselnik is currently starring in his own series The Jeselnik Offensive, which airs on Comedy Central.
