Wednesday ratings: 'Modern Family' up, 'How To Live...' premiere good

Fox topped the Wednesday primetime preliminary ratings in both the 18-49 demographic and with total viewers.

American Idol dropped 6% further to a new Wednesday all-time low of 3.0 (11.48 million viewers) at 8pm.

CBS's Survivor fell 4%, matching its own series low score of 2.4 (9.14m) at 8pm.

Criminal Minds was down 7% to 2.8 (10.68m) at 9pm, while CSI dropped 9% to 2.1 (9.76m) at 10pm.

ABC's The Middle enjoyed an 11% rise to 2.0 (7.17m) at 8pm. Suburgatory was down 5% from last week's 1.8 (5.79m) at 8.30pm. However, this was 27% higher than The Neighbors in the same slot last week.

Modern Family achieved a big 28% jump from last week's season low to a winning 4.1 (10.59m) at 9pm.

How To Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)'s series premiere scored a decent 2.9 (8.36m) at 9.30pm. Nashville climbed 13% to 1.7 (5.59m) at 10pm.

NBC's Dateline rose 27% from its Sunday episode to 1.4 (5.88m) at 8pm, which is the network's highest rating in the time period for 12 weeks.

Law & Order: SVU dropped 6% to 1.6 (6.24m) at 9pm. Chicago Fire was also down 6% to 1.6 (6.26m) at 10pm.

The CW's Arrow matched last week's 0.9 (2.84m) at 8pm. Supernatural dropped 20% to 0.8 (1.98m) at 9pm.
