Published Monday, Jan 28 2002, 23:58 GMT | By Neil Wilkes
Celine Dion is to be interviewed for the first time since her shock retirement two years ago on ABC's 20/20. The portrait of the superstar also includes the world premiere of portions of her comeback single, "A New Day Has Come".
The interview, which also features Dion’s husband Rene and baby Rene Charles, will air on 20/20, on Friday, February 1 at 10pm ET on ABC.
Dion opens up to Walters about walking away from her recording career to have what she called “a normal life” – and her determination to have a baby, for which she had to go through in vitro fertilization. She also talks about her husband’s cancer and his alleged gambling problems, and about her colossal plans for the future. Walters also asks Dion – a Canadian - about the controversy over her singing “God Bless America” during the Tribute to Heroes concert for September 11.
The interview took place on Wednesday, January 23, in Palm Beach.
20/20 airs friday at 10pm ET on ABC.
