Russell Brand turns news anchor in chaotic MSNBC TV interview: video

By
Russell Brand has appeared in a chaotic and amusing interview live on US TV in which he called the presenter a "shaft-grasper" and took over hosting the news.

The 38-year-old comic was taking part in the interview during Morning Joe on MSNBC today (June 18) to promote his upcoming stand-up tour 'The Messiah Complex'.

The chaos began when Brand accidentally broke the desk at which he was sat, prompting anchor Mika Brzezinski to lean over and help him readjust the furniture.

Brand retorted: "Be careful because that's a low-cut dress. I'm only flesh and blood, I've got instincts."

Brzezinski, who claimed to have not come across Brand or his work before, then quickly became flustered. Brand later commented on her demeanour by asking: "What seems to be the trouble, love?"

Shortly afterwards, Brand then completely took over the show, gathering papers and turning news presenter, posing topical questions to the monitor while the three hosts looked on with dismay and laughter.

Fellow presenter Brian Shactman chose to comment on Brand's accent, stating: "It's funny, the accent. When I see him in person, it's totally fine, Forgetting Sarah Marshall or the TV show, it's totally fine. But on satellite radio in the car, I can't understand a single joke you say."

After Brand finished a rambling news report, Brzezinski jumped in with: "I don't know what's wrong with you, I can understand everything he says," to which Shactman replied: "You're looking at him. When you don't see him, when you don't see the lips move..."

Brand then added: "Stop saying 'he'! I'm present! Russell. What's wrong with your manners?"
