'Happy Endings' unlikely to return to TV as cast options expire

By
Happy Endings is unlikely to return to television, the latest reports suggest.

The sitcom was dropped by ABC in May, with potential new home the USA network formally passing on the option of a pick-up earlier this month.

The cast's options with Sony will expire this week, with no network or cable broadcaster currently in serious talks to revive the series, TVLine reports.

NBC and cable channel TBS were also considered as potential new homes for Happy Endings but both networks passed on the show as well.

Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Eliza Coupe, Adam Pally, Damon Wayans, Jr and Casey Wilson starred in the series.

ABC president Paul Lee recently claimed that axing Happy Endings after three seasons was a "very hard decision".

"What we found was that it was just too narrow [in its appeal]," he said. "I love that show and I found it hard to make the decision."

The show's final season is currently airing on E4 in the UK.
